Kuala Lumpur’s Menara and Petronas Towers

This is a continuation of “A Night Out on the Town in Kuala Lumpur“.

Over the last few days, I have grown quite fond of the Petronas Towers here in Kuala Lumpur. I make it my liberty to photograph them at every angle possible just because I am so in awe of how spectacular they are. The towers are 88 levels high and feature a skybridge between the two towers on the 41st and 42nd floors, which is the highest 2-story bridge in the world!

As nerdy as it sounds and as drunk as I was, after getting home from Zouk the night prior, I went back to my suite and jumped online – oh yes! Turns out, Kieron, Jess and Miranda were also online! Since we simply just could not get enough of one another, we all start chatting to each other on Facebook. The topic of discussion…

To go up the skybridge at the Petronas Towers or to go up the Menara Tower?

After some quick online research, we decided on the Menara Tower. Why?

a) The skybridge view limits your view to only what is in front and behind you – the twin towers restrict you from having a 360° view of KL
b) Not only does the Menara Tower offer uninterrupted 360° views of KL but it offers a view of the Petronas Towers too; win-win!
c) The Petronas Towers skybridge view is only form the 42nd floor, the viewing deck at the Menara Tower is 100m higher!

MENARA TOWER

Menara Tower is easily one of Malaysia’s most popular landmarks, standing 421 metres tall and effortlessly trumps the Petronas Towers with the highest and most spectacular views of Kuala Lumpur. The tower is visible from almost anywhere in KL, even the ParkRoyal Serviced Suites rooftop pool! Prior to today, the weather here in KL has been overcast but today, the clouds parted and the sun was shining giving us incredible views off into the distance.

After getting back down the Menara Tower, we frolic through the gardens and are greeted yet again by more wild monkeys. By now, I’m sure word had hit the streets that Miranda has a monkey poking fetish and the Batu Caves monkeys clearly had got word out and warned their fellow monkey brothers over at the Menara Tower – because that’s just how they roll in monkey world. Because of this, we keep Miranda well clear of the monkeys that are literally jumping around in the branches above us – so cute! The monkeys, not Miranda.

At this point, we have pretty much crossed off everything that we had listed on our Kuala Lumpur ‘must do’ lists. It is hot out – I’m sleep deprived and would love nothing more than to relax for just a couple of hours since we’ve constantly been on the move since we got here. We cast a vote and the tribe speaks – We are to make use of the skypool on the 30th floor back at the ParkRoyal Serviced Suites!

Best. Decision. Ever.
(apart from the fact that Miranda looks naked in every pool photo!)

Although only having spent four days with Miranda, Jess, Kieron and Lucy, we all got along amazingly, shared the same sense of humour (thank God otherwise they would have all thought I was a sick freak) and had the time of our lives together! It’s not everyday you randomly meet an incredible group of people like these four. If any of you are reading this, I’d just like to say a big thank you for being the people you are and sharing this experience with me. I can’t wait to follow your continued adventures around the world.
